Courses

Courses of instruction in the craft of woodturning are available from Vasily Apostolidis. The practical courses are designed to provide the knowledge and experience required for woodturning.

In the workshop one is assigned with:

A lathe
All necessary tools and chucks
Face shields and dust masks
Wood is supplied as needed
Other equipment that will be supplied as needed are grinders, band saw,
disc sander, glue, abrasives and finishes
Exotic woods will be available for purchase

Woodturning course includes the following tasks:

Grinding of tools
Sharpening of tools
Practical use of all woodturning tools
Proper use of scraper
Cutting the timber
Using the skew chisel
Selection and preparation of timber

Typical beginning projects which can be completed are:

Eggs Bowls Babies rattle

Egg cup Platters Decorative boxes

Handle Twig pots Natural edge bowls

Boxes Goblets Wet bowls

LOCATION AND TIME

The workshop, is on the waterfront in the area of Memi, next to the Koroni,s football field. It is 2km from Koroni, 52km from Kalamata and 320km from Athens. The courses are available all year round for 2,3 or 5 days or weekends. Also ½ day and 1 day course can be arranged.
The courses run from 9am to 5pm. Refreshments and light lunch are provided at the inclusive price of the day.
